Introduction
Greetings to fellow members of the "Originals" 1 RNZIR, the 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment. Thank you all for returning the questionnaire regarding future Reunions.Thank you the Whangarei "Team". Congratulations on a job well done in organising the wonderful and unforgettable Reunion of 2006, held in Palmerston North. The Action Plan for that Reunion is being used as a guide in planning the next Reunion in Palmerston North.
Organising Committee - Palmerston North 2008 Reunion
The Reunion committee has had some changes since the last in 2006. Arthur (Yogi) Brear is the Chairman and the Secretary/Treasurer role is being performed conjointly by Chris and Sheila Simpson. See the left side bar for further details.Reunion in 2008
The following information is the first in preparation for the reunion to be held in Palmerston North on 7th, 8th, and 9th March 2008. The major response to the questionnaire was that a 2 year period between reunions is the most desirable.Using the experience of past organisers the 2008 organising committee is using the excellence of their planning and preparation to assist in making the 2008 one as memorable as the last.
Reunion Attendance Costings
The cost for attending the reunion has been established $105 per person, and $210 per double.Reunion Format
A similar format to the previous reunion will be retained, but with some differences. It is also expected that by returning to Palmerston North we will once again have the opportunity to visit the Battalion at Linton Camp.Tentative Programme

Bid to Organise 2010 Reunion
On Sunday, a bid for any future Reunion will be held with final speeches and farewells. Be prepared if you want to stage the next one in 2010.Accommodation
Accommodation will be an individual concern. Book early to avoid disappointment. Transport will be arranged to meet flights and transfers to Motel/Hotel.The following table shows a random selection of Motels and their contact details, When making a booking, quote 1RNZIR "Originals" for a group booking discount. Note Motel prices may increase slightly by the time of the reunion.

Contacting Battalion Members
With this the first mail-out and publishing of the Newsletter all effort will be made in attempting to contact all we have an address for, at this stage over 600 members of the Battalion.If you know of any members of the 'Originals' who may have changed their address or live in your area then please spread the word about your reunion.

Memorabilia
The memorabilia will be a low key affair.Blazer Pocket Monograms, we are looking at getting a fresh lot done so if you would like one just mark below, also looking at a Polo type tee shirt with the reunion details on it similar to that produced for the Hastings reunion. This will assist in getting the numbers right for ordering purposes.
Reunion Website and Email
An official Reunion website is again running Reunion Website. The site is being hosted and managed by Vic Johnson at no cost.There is also have a Reunion email address to contact the Reunion organisers, 1rnzir@cb.co.nz
